Privacy notice

This notice explains how we handle personal data when you use the Aeros TV app on Apple TV and this website, aeros.tv, and the rights you have.

In short

The Aeros TV app does not collect personal data. There is no account, your settings, favourites and Watchlist stay on your Apple TV, and what you watch is never sent anywhere. The app does not contain advertising, analytics or tracking.

On this website we count visits without cookies, and if you email us or suggest a feature, we use what you send only to deal with it.

Who we are

Aeros TV is made by Wonder Media Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 06489006. Our registered office is 48 Church Avenue, Harrogate, North Yorkshire, HG1 4HG. Our VAT number is 983 5674 67, and we are registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office under registration number ZA902438.

Wonder Media Ltd is the controller of the personal data described in this notice. If you have any questions about it, please contact us at support@aeros.tv.

The Aeros TV app

No account, and nothing about you leaves your Apple TV

You do not create an account to use Aeros TV. Your settings, favourite channels, hidden channels, Watchlist and TV region are stored only on your Apple TV. We never receive them.

What you watch is never sent anywhere. The app contains no analytics, no tracking, no advertising and no advertising identifiers, and it does not send crash reports to us.

What the app downloads

The app downloads the TV guide and its programme pictures, the list of programmes available on catch-up, channel artwork, and a list of which Freeview channels an HDHomeRun can play. These come from our server, api.aeros.tv, which runs on Cloudflare. Every Apple TV downloads the same files, and nothing in the request says who you are or what you watch.

As with any website, our hosting provider receives your IP address in order to deliver these files to you. We do not log or keep it.

To spot misuse of our server, we count how many downloads come from each country and internet provider. Nothing in those counts identifies anyone, and they are kept for a week.

Your HDHomeRun

If you use an HDHomeRun, the app finds it and talks to it on your home network only. Nothing about your HDHomeRun, or what you watch on it, leaves your home.

Which apps you have

To tick the apps you use for you, Aeros TV asks your Apple TV whether certain apps, such as BBC iPlayer, are installed. Your Apple TV only answers for the apps Aeros TV names, and the answer stays on your Apple TV.

Opening another app

When you choose a channel that opens in another app, such as BBC iPlayer, ITVX or NOW, you are handed over to that app. What happens there is covered by that app’s own privacy policy.

Purchases

The free trial and the purchase that unlocks Aeros TV are handled by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details. Apple tells the app whether your trial or unlock is active, and that information stays on your Apple TV.

Children

The app collects no personal data from anyone, children included.

The App Store privacy label

Because the app collects no data, its App Store listing says “Data Not Collected”.

This website

Visits

aeros.tv does not use cookies. We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which collects the page viewed, the website that referred you, your browser, operating system and type of device, and your country. It does not use cookies or similar technologies, does not store your IP address, and does not identify you. Cloudflare stores this information in the United States.

Like any website, our hosting provider, Cloudflare, receives your IP address in order to deliver the site to you and to protect it from attack. We do not log or keep it.

Suggesting a feature

The app links to a page where you can suggest a feature. What you write, and your email address if you choose to give it, are sent to us by email and are not stored anywhere else. We use them only to consider your suggestion and, if you gave your email address, to reply to you. We keep them for as long as we need them to do that, and then delete them.

To protect the form from automated abuse, we use Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that you are not a bot using information about your browser and device, and we limit how often the form can be sent from one connection. That limit is held briefly in memory and is not stored.

Emailing us

If you email support@aeros.tv, we use your email address and message only to answer you, and we delete them when we no longer need them to do that.

Our lawful bases

Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), we may only use personal data where we have a lawful basis to do so. We rely on legitimate interests:

  • to answer your emails and consider your suggestions, which is how we support Aeros TV and decide what to improve;
  • to count visits to this website, so that we know how it is used; and
  • to keep this website, its form and our server secure, including counting downloads by country and internet provider to spot misuse.

We have assessed that these interests do not override your rights.

Who we share information with

We do not sell personal data or share it for marketing. We use the following service providers, which process personal data only on our instructions:

  • Cloudflare, for hosting this website and our server, forwarding email, bot protection and website analytics.
  • Proton (Switzerland), for receiving email.
  • Apple, for distributing the app and taking payments. Apple acts as a controller of personal data under its own privacy policy.

We will disclose personal data to the police, regulators or other authorities where the law requires it.

International transfers

Cloudflare operates a global network, and stores website analytics in the United States. Proton is based in Switzerland. Where personal data is transferred outside the UK, we rely on the UK’s adequacy regulations (including the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework) or on the International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum approved by the ICO.

How long we keep information

  • Suggestions and emails, with any email address you gave: for as long as we need them to deal with them, and then deleted.
  • Website analytics: kept by Cloudflare in aggregate, without identifying you.
  • Download counts by country and internet provider: one week.
  • The app: we hold nothing about you, because the app sends us nothing about you.

Your rights

Under data protection law you have the following rights:

  • The right of access: to ask for a copy of your personal data.
  • The right to rectification: to ask us to correct information you think is inaccurate or incomplete.
  • The right to erasure: to ask us to delete your personal data.
  • The right to restriction of processing: to ask us to limit how we use your personal data.
  • The right to object: where we rely on legitimate interests, to object to our use of your personal data. We will stop unless we have compelling grounds to continue.

To exercise any of these rights, contact support@aeros.tv. There is no charge. We will respond without undue delay and in any event within one month. Because the app sends us nothing, we hold no data about how you use it.

Complaints

If you have a concern about how we use your personal data, please contact us first at support@aeros.tv. We will acknowledge your complaint within 30 days and let you know the outcome.

You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, telephone 0303 123 1113.

We will update this notice if how we handle personal data changes, and the date below will show when it was last revised.
